- LUTOMYSL began as
PROFANE SOLITUDE in 2001 a.y.p.s., under this name two albums were
recorded: "Awakening…" and "Emptiness" (not so
long ago they were released on one CD under the name "Awakening
in emptiness" through MORBID WINTER records and on MC through
RAVENHEART productions). After that, I started to Act as LUTOMYSL
and for now I have five full-length albums: "The Challenge"
(CD - EASTSIDE, MC - ANCIENT NATION production), "Winter of humanity"
(CD - again EASTSIDE, MC - PROPAGANDA), "I(')MQUI(nt)ESs/cENCE"
(CD and MC - TOTAL HOLOCAUST records, LP - MASQUES ET GLAVIES productions),
"Decadence" (CD - MERCENARY MUSIC, MC - PROPAGANDA), "Catharsis"
(MC - PROPAGANDA, CD is planned on MERCENARY again in the end of the
year). That's all, but not the end.
- With
``Catharsis`` album I introduced My self with darkness of Lutomysl`s
art.I`m very curious to know more about music side of early Lutomysl
work.How did your art sounded on previous releases? From your opinion
how much Lutomysl developed skills of composing …….?
- Every release of LUTOMYSL
has its own unique features and this goes to sound too. First of all
I tried to reflect the ideological aspect of each album in their sound,
but of course it was straitened by financial and technical reasons.
I guess, not too much, because this isn't the goal of mine. First
of all I'm trying to achieve the full musical transfer of spiritual
content of the Creations and composing skill develops of necessity,
I'm not working on it.
- Very
obscure and dark song called``Jet Black Metal Art`` blew me away when
I listened ``Catharsis`` for a first time. Beside that, this is only
song with poem written on English language .For poem I can tell that
reflecting your inner/individual feeling of what black metal art is.
It will be more then interesting for me if you can give me more background
of that song/poem………?
- I tried to compose
the song, which so fully as possible would describe my vision of what
my Art is. I can't call it "Manifest", but it's something
like this. About the essence - I can't tell you more, than Lyrics
does.
- All
others poems has been written in Ukrainian language. With this question
I want to go deepen into Lutomysl ideology, so can you write me more
about Lutomysl lyrics which are written in Ukrainian…? Are they connected
with obscure darkness of ``Jet Black Metal Art``…?
- My poems on "Catharsis"
are written in Russian, not Ukrainian. It's very hard to talk about
what Lyrics are, avoiding such banal phrases, as "Oh! It is about
darkness, coldness, blasphemy, etc.", which tells nothing. I
can only say, that all poems are connected among themselves and you
can get an idea about other Lyrics by reading "Jet Black Metal
Art".
- Layout
is in old spirit of abyssic underground. negative (6), dark (6) and
evil (6).I didn't found information that is responsible for this design
of black art. Did you design layout of booklet….?
- I am responsible for
all designs on LUTOMYSL albums, except "The Challenge",
when I hadn't enough skills to do it. I didn't try to do create some
"old spirit" in "Catharsis" layout, only Feeling,
which I had in that period.
- When
we are on this topic, I have opportunity to find information that
on album Decadence artwork is a painting by Mihaly Zichy.How much
you are interested in other genres of art beside music one…?
- In literature, mainly,
but I can't say that reading influences me a lot, so I don't see the
reason to talk about it.
- As
I saw Propaganda was released Lutomysl albums on MC format only, but
for CD versions were edited by various labels such as Mercenary Musik,
Total Holocaust Records,etc.Did propaganda edited ``Catharsis`` on
CD together with MC format this time …?
- No, as I said before,
"Catharsis" will be released through MERCENARY MUSIC in
the end of the year,
- For
,received promo of ``Catharsis`` with original pro-done booklet, I
can only write that propaganda did a great job with this releases
and also in promoting nihilism of black art such as Lutomysl.How much
are you satisfied with cooperation with STABAATH and KHLYST from anti-human
Propaganda…..?
- I'm fully satisfied
with their work. PROPAGANDA is the most Honest and Dedicated Underground
Activity, which I know.
- Lutomysl
you took a part in creation of Lucifugum`s album ``Back to Chopped
Down Roots" and "Sociopath: Philosophy Cynicism"Why
you are not a member of Lucifugum anymore….?
- I never was a member
of LUCIFUGUM, only so called "session musician". They have
complete line-up now and there is no necessity in my participation.
- Beside
you I found out that Amorth played drums. Is Amorth a permanent member
of band or we can consider Lutomysl as one-man band….?
- LUTOMYSL was, is and
always will be one-man Activity.
- Hell,war
and hate is how I imagining Lutomysl live ritual, but I'm unfamiliar
with information so I will ask you is Lutomysl performing live ( with
session members ) or it is a studio project….?
- Studio-project. As
for live-performances, in a whole my attitude is positive, but I don't
see myself on the stage.
- Before Lutomysl,
band has been called Profane Solitude.What where reasons for changing
of name…? Also if I'm not wrong you have album and best-off recorded
in that period, can you write me more about that era of band…?
- Almost all of my Lyrics
are on Russian and a little bit on Ukrainian languages, so it's natural,
that I wanted to have Slavonic name. Also this name reflects the essence
of my Art better.
I haven't "best of" releases. PROFANE SOLITUDE recorded
two albums and "Awakening in emptiness" includes both of
them fully.
- Mentioned
above Amorth was (or still is) member of Ukrainian famous Nokturnal
Mortum, are you in contact with others member of N.M and ``Pagan Front``what
is your opinion about their ideology like Aryanism, paganism, anti-subhumans
and anti-commercialism …?
- I know Varggoth personally
and respect him for many things, but his way, so as the way of other
members of this so called "organization" ("so called",
because it hasn't necessary things to be called so) has nothing to
do with Black Metal ones , so I'm not interested in their ideology.
And I can't say that "anti-commercialism" is one of their
goals.
- Hell…..on
received flyer from Propaganda, I saw great picture of sheded blood
beside a guitar. I know that some bands have strong ideology of auto
aggresion, depression, mutilation Do you enjoying in pleasure of pain
which only self-mutilation, cutting and finally suicide can give you
…?
- The conception of
this picture differs from the conceptions of the bands, you are talking
about. It is of Pain and Suffering of Artist, whose Art bears Gleam
of Him. Bloody Flaming Art…
I have some experience in the listed things…
- Ok
before end some usual questions, as we know Ukraine have some killer
underground act such as Lucifugum, Astrofaes, Nokturnal Mortum, and
tones of other. Is any young or not so famous bands are worthy (by
their music and ideology) from your opinion to be mentioned here….?
Can you recommend me some of them please…?
- No, there are no such
acts. At least, I don't know about them.
- Increasing
a previous question with retrospective of past and present of Ukrainian
underground.It`s seam for me that in past of Ukrainian metal abyss,
there was much more cooperation and strip relation among the bands,
but somehow I saw that some of bands are very distance by ideology
and view on underground. What is your opinion of Ukrainian underground
in past and today…?
- There was strong Monolith
in the past, called ORIANA. Time destroyed it and today we have much
more bands, most of which aren't Black Metal now or never were. But
those, who bear His Gleam, will always remain Burning. I don't care
about other, so called "scene".
- Are
any of books or writers left influence on Lutomysl work; do you reading
a lot…? Which are books, poems or written topics are interesting for
you..?
- I already answer on
this question somewhere higher.

- I'm composing Music
for next, eighth album now, which would be the last part of trilogy,
begun with "Decadence" and "Catharsis" albums.
Also some lyrics are ready now. Main purpose is to complete this and
I'll move in this direction.
